Promoting Multi-destination Travel and Building a Transportation Hub for the Greater Bay Area
K11 Group (K11) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the strategic partnership with Kwoon Chung Bus Holdings Limited (Kwoon Chung) to enhance connectivity and customer service of 11 SKIES, the largest one-stop retailtainment and commercial landmark in Hong Kong. The partnership will establish cross-border services linking 11 SKIES to cities in Shenzhen and Macau through major ports of entry including Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Shenzhen Bay Port. Dedicated shuttle bus services between Lantau Island and downtown destinations such as the iconic K11 retail landmarks are another highlight.
This collaboration aims to strengthen the cross-border and downtown transportation network of 11 SKIES, establish a transportation hub for the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and promote the development of multi-destination travel.
Almost 40% of tourists travel through three major ports of entry near 11 SKIES. The partnership is set to further improve the connectivity
As an integral part of SKYCITY, 11 SKIES is located between two major ports of entry, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Hong Kong International Airport, and adjacent to Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok Link. With the rapid development of the economy in the GBA, there have been frequent cultural, tourism, and business exchanges through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Hong Kong International Airport and Shenzhen Bay Port, which is only a half-hour drive away from 11 SKIES. Last year, the overall volume of passengers who passed through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge almost hit 22 million, breaking the record set in 2019 and the number keeps rising. During this year’s Labour Day Golden Week (1 May to 5 May), the number of inbound and outbound travellers in Hong Kong reached 4.19 million. Close to 40% of visitors travelled in and out through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Hong Kong International Airport, and Shenzhen Bay Port. As the “bridgehead” where traffic from all these three ports converges, 11 SKIES and SKYCITY are set to welcome promising footfall with the prominent demand of cross-border transportation and services connecting ports of entry.
The partnership will feature cooperation in four aspects to ensure full accessibility of 11 SKIES. Kwoon Chung will establish dedicated routes between Shenzhen or Macau and 11 SKIES, as well as providing multi-purpose limousine services to cater to different customers’ needs. The two companies are actively exploring the introduction of shuttle bus services connecting 11 SKIES with other K11 retail landmarks to strengthen its connectivity with the downtown area. In addition, Kwoon Chung Bus Holdings’ subsidiary, New Lantao Bus, will operate its Lantau minibus routes with electric vehicles, which will stop at 11 SKIES, linking it to major attractions and residential estates on Lantau Island. In terms of connection to the adjacent Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, an Airportcity Link featuring an autonomous transportation system is being constructed to connect 11 SKIES with the Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities (HKBCF). Complemented by the additional services operated by Kwoon Chung, it will provide greater convenience for more cross-border travellers.
Mr. Richard Cheung, Executive Vice President and Regional Site in Charge of K11 Group stated, “As the largest retailtainment, tourism, transportation landmark in Hong Kong and a hub for personal businesses in GBA, our strategic partnership with Kwoon Chung will effectively strengthen the transportation network of 11 SKIES. It will also fully leverage our strategic location as the ‘bridgehead’, building a major transportation hub in the GBA and promoting the development of commerce and tourism.”
Mr. Wong Cheuk Tim, Chief Operating Officer of Kwoon Chung Bus Holdings, added, "We are delighted to collaborate with K11 Group. This partnership will provide more convenient public transportation services and serve as a pilot project for enhancing mobility in the Greater Bay Area. We have great confidence in the future of travel in the Greater Bay Area and believe that this collaboration will deliver a superior experience for passengers. The strong relationship between Kwoon Chung Bus Group and K11 Group has laid a solid foundation for this collaboration, enabling us to jointly create a better transportation future and contribute positively to urban development. We look forward to collaborating with more partners in the future to build smarter, more convenient, and sustainable urban environments.”
In addition, the Airport Authority Hong Kong has announced the development of automated car parks on the HKBCF of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. It will consist of Park & Fly and Park & Visit car parks, providing 6,000 parking spaces for self-drive customers. Among them, passengers using the Park & Visit car parks can reach 11 SKIES through the autonomous transportation system on Airportcity Link after parking and going through immigration. This will greatly facilitate self-drive tourists in the GBA to visit 11 SKIES and SKYCITY via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
